What is hard chrome?
Hard chrome is a coating that is applied to steel of various alloys, cast irons and bronzes by an electrolytic process. Hard chrome is first and foremost an anti-wear coating offering excellent resistance, but it also offers other interesting properties:
- Good hardness (65 à 72 HRC)
- Low coefficient of friction
- Very good resistance to wear and abrasion
- Corrosion resistance
- Beautiful surface finish (after polishing or grinding)
- Does not distort parts
